Who they are
The Mbedam live in the far north of Cameroon, in the arid Sahel region, northeast of Hina. During the rainy season, they harvest the food that sustains their families for the rest of the year, and some families grow cotton to supplement their income. For centuries, they resisted invaders who pressured them to change their religion. Christians from other parts of Cameroon brought the gospel to the region in the 1970s. Today, there are Christians, Muslims and followers of traditional African religion among them.
