Who they are

The Miriti are a small Indigenous group living in the Uaupés River basin and the upper Rio Negro region of the Amazon. Part of the complex social network of the forest peoples, many use the Tucano language in daily life. They make their living through fishing, traditional cassava cultivation, and gathering forest products, working to ensure their identity is valued and their lands are preserved.
