Who they are
The Juxtlahuaca Mixtec are an indigenous people originating from the mountains of Oaxaca, in southern Mexico. Guardians of a rich pre-Hispanic cultural heritage, they preserve their own variant of the Mixtec language and deep community ties. Today, in addition to living in their traditional villages, many migrate seasonally in search of agricultural work in other regions and countries.
