Who they are

The Mona, also known as Mwan, live in west-central Ivory Coast, in villages around Kongasso. They speak Mwan, a language of the Southern Mande group. Cashew farming is their main occupation, and most villagers also speak Gouro and Dioula; trade is conducted in Dioula or French. Most follow traditional religions, Christians form a minority, and there is also a smaller group of Muslims.
