Who they are
The Nao people, also known as the Nayi, live in the forests and hills of southwestern Ethiopia. Traditionally part of the historic region of Kaffa, they have a distinct cultural identity and speak Nayi, a language of the Omotic group.
Their communal life revolves around subsistence farming and the preservation of their traditional ancestral beliefs, among neighboring peoples with a more prominent cultural and linguistic presence.
