Who they are

The Ngalongs are the predominant cultural group in the western valleys of Bhutan, in the Himalayan mountain range. Speakers of Dzongkha, the country’s national language, they have profoundly shaped the kingdom’s traditional architecture, laws, and identity.

Their communal life and daily customs are intricately intertwined with Buddhist tradition, reverently preserved amidst towering mountains and historic monasteries.
