Who they are
The Ogori-Magongo live in the towns of Ogori and Magongo in Kogi State, Nigeria. Their language is known as Oko in Ogori and Osayin in Magongo, with slight differences in accent. Every year, usually two weeks after Easter, the Ovia-Osese festival celebrates adolescent girls’ transition to adulthood. Most of the people follow traditional religions, alongside a Christian community.
