People
Who they are
The Palikur are an Indigenous people of the Arawakan language family who traditionally inhabit the mangrove and river regions between northern Amapá and French Guiana. With strong ties to the waterways, they engage in fishing, subsistence farming and crafts. They keep their ethnic identity and native language alive, balancing ancestral customs with everyday life along the border.
