The Palliyar are an indigenous tribal community living on the forested slopes of the Western Ghats in southern India and speaking Tamil. Historically associated with gathering forest resources and living in harmony with the forests, they preserve oral traditions and deep communal ties while facing ongoing social and economic pressures as they become integrated into neighboring rural areas.
