Who they are
The Pankararé are an Indigenous people living in the sertão, the interior of Bahia, near Raso da Catarina. Over generations, they have kept their communal identity and cultural resistance alive amid the challenges of this semiarid region. Today they communicate in Portuguese and preserve traditional customs, such as toré, that bring families together around their history and their connection to the land.
