Who they are
The Pelende live in Kenge Territory in the western Democratic Republic of the Congo. Language researchers consider Pelende to be part of Yaka, rather than a separate language. Almost all Pelende identify as Christians, but evangelicals form a minority of the people. A small proportion continues to follow traditional religions.
