Who they are
The Pwo, who call themselves Phuó and are also known as Pougouli, live in southwestern Burkina Faso. They speak Phuie, a language closely related to Sissala and Winyé. Most follow their people’s traditional religions. There is a sizable Muslim minority and a smaller Christian community, which includes evangelicals.
