Who they are

The Quaiquer, also known as the Awá people, live in the dense tropical forests between southwestern Colombia and northwestern Ecuador. They maintain a deep connection to their ancestral lands and preserve their native language, which belongs to the Barbacoan language family. Despite external pressures on their territories, they keep their community identity and cooperation among families alive.
