Community life revolves around subsistence farming, growing millet, sorghum, corn, and cotton on family land. Villages are organized around lineages and agricultural work cooperatives. The crafts of blacksmiths, weavers, and sculptors have great social and practical value, while respect for elders guides everyday collective decisions.
Traditional spirituality remains very strong, shaped by veneration of ancestors and the activities of the Poro secret society, which conducts male initiation rites and preserves social order. Although Islam and Christianity exert outside influences, the search for spiritual protection against invisible forces still governs daily practices.
