Who they are

The Suri Tirmaga-Chai live in the far southwest of Ethiopia, in the Bench-Maji Zone, west of the Omo River. Tirmaga and Chai are two groups that use the name Suri. They make their living by raising cattle, goats and sheep and growing maize, millet and sorghum. In their traditional religion, Tumu is the sky god, and there is no public worship dedicated to him. There is also a small minority of evangelical Christians.
