The Svanetians, also called Mushwan, are a people inhabiting the high valleys of the Caucasus in the historic region of Svaneti. Known for their ancient fortified villages with stone towers, they preserve a unique culture and their own distinct language, different from standard Georgian. Although they have a long Christian heritage in the region, faith is often tied to tradition and geographic isolation.
