Who they are

The Tatuyo are an Indigenous people living along riverbanks and in the forests of the Vaupés basin in the Colombian Amazon. Their language belongs to the Eastern Tucanoan family, and they maintain a living connection with the rivers and tropical forest. Their community life is guided by rich ancestral narratives passed down orally and by shared life in their traditional malocas, or communal houses.
