Who they are
The Tektiteko Maya are a small Indigenous group living in the mountains of western Guatemala and neighboring areas of southern Mexico. Descendants of the ancient Maya civilization, they preserve their own language of the Mamean family and maintain communal farming traditions, growing mainly corn and beans on the steep slopes. Their identity combines their ancestral heritage with a deeply lived Christian faith.
