Who they are
The Tsemay live along the banks of the Weyto River in southwestern Ethiopia. They are an agro-pastoral community that preserves ancestral customs and maintains strong cultural ties with neighboring peoples of the Lower Omo Valley. They speak the Tsamai language and organize community life around pastoralism, subsistence farming, and rituals that honor the stages of life.
