Who they are

The Tunni are a community belonging to the Somali group, inhabiting the southern regions of Somalia along the Shabelle River and the coastal strip. With a traditionally agropastoral way of life, they combine farming with livestock rearing and preserve their own language, Tunni, which belongs to the Cushitic branch. Their communal life is organized around clan ties and shaped by a Muslim religious and cultural identity.
