Who they are

The Tupari are an indigenous people living in the forests of Rondônia, in Brazil’s Guaporé River basin. Speaking a language of the Tupi language family, they preserve a rich cultural heritage connected to the land and waters of the Amazon. Despite a painful history of contact with extractive industries expanding into their region in the last century, they remain steadfast in their identity and community life.
