Turkic-speaking Khalaj
The Turkic Khalaj live primarily in the central plateau of Iran. They are distinguished by speaking one of the most archaic Turkic languages surviving today, preserving ancient grammatical traits. Traditionally engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry in rural villages, they maintain strong community bonds amidst Persian society, with a Muslim identity deeply rooted in their daily lives.
