Who they are

The Uneme live in northern Edo State, Nigeria, in the Etsako and Akoko-Edo areas. Their ironworking was historically very important and earned them the admiration and respect of neighboring peoples. British colonial rule and the arrival of European iron tools led to the collapse of this activity. Today, traditional religions have the most followers, alongside Christians and a Muslim minority.
