Who they are

The Uru are one of the oldest Indigenous peoples of the Andes, historically associated with the waters of the highland lakes between Bolivia and Peru. Known for their distinctive adaptation to life on the water and their traditional use of totora reeds, many have adopted Aymara over the generations while preserving their communal identity with dignity amid the region’s ongoing cultural and climatic changes.
