Who they are

The Vagla are an indigenous people who live mainly in northern Ghana, belonging to the Gur linguistic family. Traditionally dedicated to subsistence agriculture, cultivating yams and grains, they maintain a strong attachment to their ancestral lands and mother tongue. Although traditional spirituality still holds a powerful influence, a vibrant Christian community is already established among them.
