Who they are

The Vilela are a small Indigenous people originally from Argentina’s Gran Chaco region. Over generations, they have faced intense cultural pressure and assimilation, coming to live closely alongside neighboring peoples such as the Toba and adopting the languages spoken around them. Today they strive to keep their historical memory alive and maintain recognition of their traditional ethnic identity.
