The Watubela inhabit the archipelago of the same name in Indonesia’s Maluku province. With a deep connection to the sea and subsistence farming, this people preserves its own mother tongue and traditional customs. Although most follow Islam, Christian families also live on the islands, side by side in small coastal villages.
