Who they are

The Yasa live in villages on the coast of Cameroon, in the Campo and Kribi areas, near Equatorial Guinea, and also on the coast of Equatorial Guinea. There are also Yasa in Gabon, in Woleu-Ntem Province. They speak Iyasa, a coastal Bantu language. Most make their living from fishing, and women grow cassava and other food crops. Most identify as Christian, but a minority follows the people’s traditional religions.
