What it is
Overview

North America comprises just 6 countries and territories, but two of them, the United States and Canada, are among the world’s largest economic powers. The region also includes Mexico, Greenland (the world’s largest island, mostly covered in ice) and small territories such as Bermuda and Saint Pierre and Miquelon.

It is one of the most evangelical regions of the Americas, with 21% evangelicals, a legacy of centuries of Protestant revivals in the United States and Canada, which became major centers for sending missionaries around the world. Mexico, in turn, combines a strong Catholic tradition with steady evangelical growth in recent decades.

Even so, the region is home to 835 people groups, of which 130 are still considered unreached, many of them Indigenous peoples of the Canadian Arctic, Hispanic communities in the United States and peoples native to Mexico. And of the 836 languages spoken in the region, 536 still have no part of the Bible translated.

Behind the image of a Christian and developed region lie pockets of growing secularism, urban loneliness and Indigenous peoples historically overlooked by the church. Pray for a North America that continues to send workers to the world while also reaching those within its own borders.
