Guatemala

Unreached people groups

An overview of the country's people groups, focusing on those who still have little or no access to the gospel in their own language and culture.

Overview

Guatemala is the heart of the Maya world, with more than twenty Maya peoples, along with mestizos, descendants of Europeans, and the Garifuna community on the Caribbean coast. The majority identify as Christian, but some indigenous groups still do not have the complete Scriptures in their mother tongue, and in many cases the gospel coexists with ancestral practices without transforming them. The greater challenge is not the absence of churches, but bringing the Word with depth and in the language of each people.
