Who they are
Afro-Paraguayans are descendants of enslaved Africans and soldiers who settled in Paraguay during the colonial centuries and the postwar period, notably in historic communities such as Kamba Kua. Integrated into Paraguayan society, they maintain distinctive cultural expressions through drum rhythms and traditional dance, using both Spanish and Guarani in daily life.
