Bhotia of Sikkim
The Bhotia of Sikkim inhabit mountain valleys in the eastern Himalayas, mainly in the Indian state of Sikkim. Descended from Tibetan migrants who settled in the region centuries ago, their identity is deeply connected to their language and the monastic traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. Known for their farming, textile crafts, and distinctive architecture, they preserve a rich communal heritage.
