People
The Borghom are a people who live in central Nigeria, primarily in rural areas of Plateau State. Speakers of a language in the Chadic branch, they maintain a strong sense of community rooted in solidarity among families and respect for elders. Over time, they have lived alongside various neighboring peoples while preserving their heart language and an identity tied to farming and the oral transmission of their ancestral traditions.

Daily life in the villages follows the cycles of the land. Subsistence farming is the main occupation, with families growing sorghum, corn, millet, yams, and peanuts, as well as raising goats and poultry. Families organize themselves into cooperative groups, helping one another during planting and harvest seasons. Elders play a decisive role in resolving conflicts, keeping alive customs that value communal life and sharing.
Ethnic and ancestral beliefs strongly influence daily life for most of the people. Spiritual life is marked by rituals connected to the fertility of the land, the remembrance of ancestors, and the search for protection against spiritual forces in their surroundings. Although they have contact with other forms of religious expression, many continue to turn to traditional ceremonies to ensure their families’ well-being.
A people only truly understands the gospel when they hear it in the language of their heart. See how far the translation has come.

The villages need basic infrastructure improvements, especially access to safe drinking water, well-equipped health clinics, and properly resourced schools. Spiritually, the community lacks ongoing discipleship initiatives and biblical resources adapted to their mother tongue to support those seeking God.
