Who they are
The Tzotzil of Chenalhó belong to the Maya family and inhabit the mountains of the Chiapas Highlands in southern Mexico. With a deep attachment to the land and community traditions, they preserve the Tzotzil language in daily life and collective decision-making. Their identity is shaped by the cultivation of corn and unique social structures, amid historical tensions and an ongoing search for harmony and dignity for their families.
