The Chicomucelteco are an indigenous group with Mayan roots originating from the Chiapas region in southern Mexico and neighboring areas in Guatemala. Although their ancestral language has ceased to be spoken and Spanish is now the common language, they preserve a strong sense of community and cultural traditions deeply tied to the land and the Mayan past.
