Who they are

The Dhr Thuri, also called Thuri, live mainly in Northern and Western Bahr el Ghazal states in South Sudan. They are primarily farmers; they collect honey and work with iron and wood. The chief, called ruoth, holds a hereditary position and is highly respected. They believe in a Creator God, whom they approach through the spirits of deceased relatives. Most follow traditional religions, and there is a Christian minority.
