Who they are

The Gouzou live in Weining County, in northwestern Guizhou Province, China. They are part of the Yi ethnic group but are distinct from the Guopu, who live in the same area. Christianity reached them in the early twentieth century, and there is a small church made up mostly of women over 30. Traditional religions predominate, including ancestor worship.
