Who they are
The Ixcateco are an Indigenous people from the state of Oaxaca in southern Mexico, concentrated mainly in the community of Santa María Ixcatlán. Known for their crafts made from palm fibers and their subsistence farming, they face the challenge of preserving their unique cultural heritage as their native language declines.
