Who they are

The Jola-Bliss are a subgroup of the Jola people who live mainly in the coastal region of Casamance in Senegal and neighboring areas. Recognized for their strong ties to traditional rice cultivation and fishing on river islands, they maintain deep community bonds. Although Islam shapes the community’s daily routines, elements of ancestral beliefs still influence families’ everyday lives.
