Kawashkar

The Kawashkar, historically known as sea nomads, are an indigenous people native to the channels and fjords of Chilean Patagonia. For centuries, they navigated the icy waters in family canoes, subsisting on fishing and marine gathering. Today, most reside in coastal communities and urban centers of the far south, proudly preserving their ancestral memory and striving to protect their cultural identity and traditional rights.
