Who they are
The Lakkia are an indigenous mountain people of the Guangxi region in southern China, linked to the larger Yao ethnic group. Neighbors call them the mountain tea people because of the highland area where they live. They have their own language and customs, which distinguish them from other Yao groups as well as from their Han neighbors. They carefully preserve their traditions and rural identity, keeping alive a culture little known outside their region.
