Lakkia

The Lakkia are an indigenous people of the mountains in the Guangxi region of southern China, affiliated with the larger Yao ethnic group. Neighboring communities refer to them as the “mountain tea people,” owing to the high-altitude terrain where they live. They possess their own language and customs, which set them apart both from other Yao groups and from their Han neighbors. They carefully preserve their traditions and rural identity, keeping alive a culture little known beyond their homeland.
