Who they are

The Mandahuaca are an Indigenous people originally from the Negro and Casiquiare river basins in the South American Amazon. With roots in the Arawakan language family, they have experienced extensive cultural assimilation and now widely use Spanish in everyday life. They make their living through fishing, traditional farming, and gathering, maintaining their historic relationship with the forests and rivers of their ancestral lands.
