Marathi-speaking Jew
The Marathi-speaking Jews, known as Bene Israel, form an ancient Jewish community on the western coast of India, in the region of Maharashtra. They speak Marathi in daily life and preserve Jewish traditions passed down through generations, even while living surrounded by Hindus and Muslims. Over time, this people learned to blend their Jewish identity with Indian culture, carrying this dual heritage wherever they may be.
