The Moger Moyon are a Dalit people of Karnataka, in southern India, where they speak Kannada. They live within a caste system that still organizes much of the region’s social life, occupying a marginalized position in that hierarchy. Their identity is tied to the sea and fishing, to daily labor on the land, and to Hindu traditions passed down from generation to generation.
