Who they are
The Murut Paluan are an indigenous community inhabiting the forests and hills of inland Sabah, on the island of Borneo. Part of the cultural mosaic of the Murut peoples, they maintain a strong attachment to their mother tongue and communal customs. Unlike neighboring subgroups that are predominantly Christian or animist, a large proportion have embraced Islam, which now profoundly shapes their identity and daily life in their villages.
