Who they are
The Ndengese live in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, north of the Kuba kingdom, and speak Dengese. Their traditions include sculptures depicting dignitaries wearing a hat woven from raffia fiber, a sign of social standing. The Ndengese and the Kuba share symbols of authority, such as raffia cloth garments and musical instruments. Most identify as Christians, and a minority follow traditional African religions.
