Who they are
The Kamviri Nuristanis inhabit remote and rugged valleys in eastern Afghanistan. Custodians of their own language and ancestral traditions, they live in villages built on mountainsides. Historically isolated by the rugged terrain of the Hindu Kush, they preserve a strong community identity, shaped by close tribal ties and the Sunni Muslim faith that governs village life.
