Os nuristanis malakhel formam uma pequena comunidade de herança nuristani que vive na província de Paktika, ao sudeste de Cabul, em meio à maioria pastó. Embora suas raízes históricas estejam ligadas à região montanhosa do Nurestão, o grupo adotou o dari como sua principal língua de comunicação cotidiana. Suas famílias mantêm uma rotina simples guiada pelos costumes locais e pelas práticas do islamismo sunita, com praticamente nenhum contato conhecido com a mensagem de Cristo.
