People
Who they are
The Parachi are a small indigenous people of Afghanistan, concentrated in isolated valleys northeast of Kabul, in the Hindu Kush mountains. They speak Parachi, their own Iranian language that distinguishes them from their Pashtun and Tajik neighbors. They live by mountain agriculture, maintaining a distinct identity even while surrounded by larger peoples.
