Who they are
The Paranan are an indigenous people who live on the eastern slopes of the Sierra Madre mountain range and along the coast of Isabela Province, in the northern Philippines. Traditionally engaged in subsistence farming, fishing, and forest management, they preserve their own Austronesian language. Although most profess the Christian faith, the community seeks to balance development with the preservation of its cultural and environmental identity.
